The Biden administration has planned to ease restrictions on diplomatic exchanges between Taiwan and the UU and Prof.Edward I-hsin Chen, a professor emeritus of Tamkang University at the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations said it is the second largest change in the area of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and the US since 1994. In 1994 changes made include the title of CCNAA (Coordination Council of North American Affairs) to TECRO (Taiwan Economic and Cultural Representative Office) and Taiwanese officials could pay a visit to federal buildings to discuss important issues. Prof. Chen said the move shows the US is taking side with Taiwan and warns China not take any coercive action.
